Hey guys. I spent the last year or so prepping my S13 for paint. I just finally finished it up and figured I'd share some pics. I'm working on a write up for you guys on how to do basic body work and block out a car to be wave free. Here she is

I'm gonna start wetsanding it in late march. I drove it for a week, and the motor blew up this week, so I'm gonna hurry up and rebuild my extra motor and swap it in a few weeks. Anybody with alot of knowledge in this want to help out? I can rebuild it, but I've never done a motor swap. Swap day in SA?!

Not NICO, it's not a 240 or Nissan forum. Totally unrelated car forum.

Weird!

I would highly appreciate the write up. I have been thinking of making the attempt at prepping and painting my own car as well. Your car turned out very nice!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm a musician out at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and it just so happened that the drummer there used to do paint and body work at BobMcalls Restorations. They do some of the most high dollar pre-WWII restorations and hot rods in the state. He walked me through all of it and really did great things. If anybody ever wants a hand, I'm more than happy to show what I've learned. It's my first paint job, so I'm very pleased!

TXDragon: I'd love to have some experienced help. You wouldn't happen to have a garage to do it in would you? I just have a small one car garage at my apartment complex. Not enough room for a motor pull. e-mail me at Andrewmusic87@hotmail.com or AIM me at FattyMcBaggins. It'd be great if you could help

I don't have a garage.. All the work I have done, I have done right here in my apt parking lot as well!

did you tape off all the rubber trim or remove it?

FattyMcBaggins
02-13-2007, 15:57
I removed them all before color was sprayed. But the shop that primed it sprayed primer on a bunch of the trim. Made me furious. But, if you look at the pictures of the rear, you can see that the trim on the bottom of the hatch glass is removed.
Andas far as the exhaust goes, the shop that sprayed primer on my trim also sprayed my damn exhaust. I'd be pissed if I wasn't replacing it with a BRM in a few months.

iv racked up a few swaps in my day 4 in the last 2 weeks. if u need any help im more than willing. I have a hoist and tools. U put food in my belly and drank in my cup teach me some stuff about the body work. and bam we can have her in and out in a day no problem

we can do it in ur garage there all we need is a clear space. and to make sure the hatch is rolling aka has tires and such.

what we will do is push it out bring the tools hoist and such in push the car back in disco everything. pull it set it down on the tire pull the tranny, clutch, pres plate, put them on the new motor drop in and connect everything. even if 75% of it goes wrong we will still be done in a days worth of work
