Get on youtube and search for jdmenginecorp and I'm sure you'll change your mind.

I know the guy that is on dallasimports that made that video.

If anything, I would rather go through Jhot than jdmenginecorp. Better yet, I would go through Jarco.

Edit: Here's the video

The comments from jdmenginescorp is classic as well.

I am sure every importer has a horror story attached to them somewhere. There is a couple people on this site that have bought from them and had great luck. There IS ALWAYS a risk when buying a used engine.

Of course there's risk, the imported SR is a junkyard engine. My problem is how they handled the warranty. The guy in the video is local to them and they still didn't remedied his problem since he ended up tearing the SR apart.

When I worked for an importer years ago, that's not how we conduct business.

My first engine came from JHot. I was one of their first CA customers over 6 years ago. Motor ran for 5 years with no issues save a headgasket. Good stuff. Paid $1288 shipped.

My second motor came from Japan Star Motors (http://www.japanesestarmotor.com/) and cost $1300 shipped. Came with an OS Giken twin plate and some goodies; also started on the first crank and I have driven it daily for about 3 months now. Equally good stuff.

I have heard bad things about JDM Engines corp in Richardson.

I got two blown motors from Osaka... for the price of one. Indirectly, didn't know that was their origin at the time. Got them from someone on NICO.. forgot who off hand, I'd have to go searchin'.

Granted, I wanted blown motor for cheap to rebuild and overbore, and got two cause he couldn't move the other. He got his motors from Osaka but he'd go check them before he sold them, and wouldn't sell a junk motor to someone who wasn't prepared for it.

I"ll see that and raise you a

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa254/helix976/2jzyr4br9.jpg

to be honest, I've gone through about 20 jdm engines in the 15 years I've been building cars.

One thing I will say about any engine you buy from an importer is, refresh it. Go to FRSport, Enjuku, whoever, and get a rebuild kit.

By refreshing the dozens of gaskets and seals, you will save yourself the cost of that refresh tenfold later on. Both in time and money. You can also use the time you spend doing this becoming familiar with the individual parts. Or, if you're having someone else do this for you, you can use the time to brush up on your needlepoint.

i have been told that since they swap motors like ever 30k miles that a lot of those guys dont even bother to change the oil... so i dunno its a rumor but id be scared no matter whom you do buisness with.

there is no better satifaction then building an engine and being able to tell people yeah i did that all by myself. cool hu.

Well, not advertising for myself,....so don't take it that way...

but in my brief experience with CAs, it's a good idea to just rebuild it when you get it. Just get one cheap, and rebuild it,. No problems, no fuss, just good old like new feel...

And my buddy has a rebuildable CA with 2 blocks and lots of extra crap...:/:

It's just a matter of good maintenance to go through ANY used motor BEFORE installing it in your car.
